More about the owners

Our Family

We, Guy and Trey, have been together since 1996 and have two sweet and beautiful daughters. We bought this house in 2004 and have fallen in love with it. We live year round in San Francisco, but spend as many summers as possible in our Hilo home. We hope to live there year round some day. While we are away, the house is maintained and visitors hosted by our friends and year-round tenants, Todd and Rebekah.

Contact us if you have any questions. Also, between us and housemate we speak varying levels (conversational to fluent) of Spanish, German, Korean, Swedish, Polish and of course English.

Please check out our site, blog and rooms!

We're surfers from Oregon. The location can't be beat. What a peaceful and beautiful home...we were occupants of the one bedroom apartment for two glorious weeks and loved going back to the serenity of the property everytime we did. Todd was awesome and full of information on what to do, where to go, and even had gear we didn't; like fins and snorkels, or a cooler...Todd was kind enough to show us the studio so that we could and have already recommended it to our friends. Aloha Nui!

I loved staying in this place! The studio is spacious, very clean, inviting, private and well equipped. Most important to me was the very comfortable bed, big sofa, terrific shower, satellite TV + wireless internet. The kitchen has a full-sized fridge, double sink and coffee provisions with both a standard drip coffee maker/grinder and a pod coffee maker. The colors and furnishings are fresh, terrific and inviting. There is a shared sauna and a full-sized washer & dryer just outside the door in the garage.
Lots of windows look out over a large lush yard on the edge of the jungle. In the evenings, I could hear Coqui frogs and the distant waterfall in the canyon beyond the back yard. This was all very nice to return to after exploring the about the Island.
The downtown area of Papaikou is about a 5-10 minute drive away, with good shopping and many terrific restaurants take-away eateries. Also convenient are Richardson Beach, Volcano National Park and the Mauna Kea Observatory and other attractions.
This place was perfect for me offering a comfortable retreat with all of the comforts of home. I will definitely stay here again.

We had the pleasure of staying here several times and we will keep coming back. It our home away from home. Both units are delightfully cozy and comfortable at the same time. Delightfully decorated and a welcoming yard to top it off. Guy and Trey have made it completely worry free for us anytime we are on our way to Hilo.We are looking forward to our visit in August with our son who I know will enjoy the wide open space of the downstairs unit. Todd and Rebekah are always available and ready to serve if we need it. Hands down a great place to stay!
